Invisalign Clear Aligners

If you’ve considered getting crooked teeth straightened but have been perturbed by the thought of traditional, unsightly “train track” braces, then Invisalign may be ideal for you.

Here at Leiston Dental Care we are pleased to provide the UK’s most popular treatment for correcting misaligned teeth – Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign process uses a range of clear aligners made from clinical grade plastic, which carefully apply pressure to your teeth to move them to the desired positions. A new aligner is typically provided every two weeks, gradually moving the teeth and adjusting their position to achieve the desired alignment.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

  • Discreet when wearing – the aligners are nearly invisible to those around you
  • Convenient – the aligners can be removed for meal times and when cleaning your teeth
  • Easier to maintain good oral health – because the aligners can be removed, it is easy to clean your teeth
  • Comfortable – Invisalign is generally considered to be comfortable and well tolerated, typically just 7 to 10 days after treatment begins
  • Flexible – Invisalign can be adapted for use in simple and more complex cases

The Invisalign treatment process

As with any significant dental treatment, Invisalign begins with a consultation to assess suitability. Whilst it is suitable for many people, where it isn’t we will explore alternative solutions and discuss other options, such as referral to an external specialist for conventional orthodontic treatment or placement of cosmetic restorations.

Should you elect to proceed, impressions taken of your teeth will be used to create the series of aligners to achieve your new smile. You will then be invited back for a fitting appointment to demonstrate how to use them, how long to wear them for and also how to keep them clean. We will invite you back periodically to ensure that treatment is progressing as planned and to make any necessary adjustments.

Retainers

Following treatment, it is almost certain that you will be required to wear retainers overnight and for an indefinite period. These are constructed in a similar way to the original aligners and are worn overnight to prevent the teeth from moving back to their original position.
